This unique vintage kantha bedcover is crafted from recycled layers of fabric that are woven together with vibrant coloured threads across the entire surface of the fabric with thousands of tiny stitches, creating a unique and one-of-a-kind creation, with delicate stitches that evoke the folklore of the Bengali region of India.

A distinctive characteristic of the kantha fabric is the decorative pattern on both sides, making it suitable for interiors of different tones.

Please note that due to the vintage nature of the fabric and the handmade character, there may be various irregularities in either the pattern, colour or fabric of the textile. These irregularities and the visible signs of time give these materials their true beauty.

ORIGIN & PRODUCTION

We work in collaboration with a small Budapest-based sewing studio, where all our products are made with love and care from vintage kantha quilts originating from West Bengal, India.

Kantha, an age-old embroidery technique, finds its roots in West Bengal's artistic legacy. The skilled artisans of the Bengal region masterfully intertwine layers of fabric with colourful threads, creating mesmerising patterns and motifs that depict the region's cultural tapestry. Every stitch tells a tale, reflecting the artistic expression, folklore, and traditions passed down through generations.

This is a 'one and only' piece of garment crafted from vintage fabric layers, sewn together by the hands of amazing craftswomen in Benghal with love.

Please take a good care of this unique item, wash it only by hand in cool water, do not bleach, tumble dry or wring.
